Here at TAV our focus is to deal with various topics related to healthy and active living, but done so in an informative and amusing way. There’s Catherine Alvarez, who is focused on living cleanly with her new husband, helped in part by her passion for food and career as a registered nutritionist. Then there’s Matt Preston, who seeks to battle the stereotypes of being a V only eater, using his observations and sarcasm to post his thoughts while dealing with family and friends who don’t quite cotton to his lifestyle.
From vegetarian to veganism and animal rights, to yoga and exercising, we want to be able to focus on the positive and lighter sides of these areas and more! Especially that it’s sometimes easy to go negative, and that this road can be solitary at times, we’d like to be able to appeal to a wide range of people that may be curious or feel isolated. Simply put, we’re happy warriors here, and want to be able to make those in the know laugh, and others lost learn something new.
The Recipes N Such category is where Catherine will shine, as her wealth of knowledge related to nutrition and healthy eating is second to none… And don’t let your hippy cousin whose been “on the vegan scene maaaaan” tell you otherwise! (Yayyy stereotypes!) She understands what goes into changing one’s diet and lifestyle, and forms her advice to suit all the possibilities out there. We attempt to get a weekly recipe up every Tuesday.
The Healthy Observations category is where Matt will be Matt; which is observing and reporting back through a sarcastic and often confused lens, as he makes his way through yoga classes, exercising, and going from being an apathetic vegetarian to an active vegan… With all the pitfalls and stereotypes that go with it. (Hence the Also Not Gay part, as lets be honest, it did cross your mind.) This is an end of the week kind of thing, going by the token that less is more. (Though if less is more, how much more is more?)
And all of this will culminate in a weekly half hour-ish TAV Podcast, every Sunday, where we’ll discuss what’s on our radars, trends in clean eating and exercising, stories from the front lines of being apart of these communities, etc. So feel free to ask anything on your mind or share your stories with us.
